Supplements Will NOT make or break your shred

When it comes to the supplement world I will only EVER recommend 3 things that are safe:

  • High Quality Protein Powder

  • Aminos [Recovery aid]

  • L-Carnetine [ Fat Burner]

You don’t even really need these. Taking them or not taking them is not going to make or break your shred process.

What will make or break your shred is what you put into your cardio, weight lifting and diet.

There are no magic pills to help you shred. If you are buying protein bars, shakes or pills then you are wasting your money. There is nothing in these products that I wouldn’t rather see you get from your food. There is nothing in these products that wouldn’t be better digested as food.

Too often I see clients trying to view supplements as “freebies” in their diet strategy. Thinking that a protein bar doesn’t count doesn’t work. Supplements are not calorie free foods. Most of them have either too many carbs to be effective for a shred diet or if they have almost no carbs in them then they are loaded with ingredients that are going to bloat you.

The other thing that I don’t like about supplementation is that it leads to disordered eating. Disordered eating covers a broad range of things but can include;

  • Snacking on fake food instead of eating a meal

  • Consuming a supplement ahead of a meal to lessen the amount of real food you are going to eat

  • Rigid rituals around how and when you can consume food real food based on your supplement schedule

  • Relying on supplements to help you “dump” weight
